Testimonials

From the time my daughter Loghan was just three years old, HorsePower has been a vital part of her growth, independence, and joy.

Loghan lives with a rare genetic condition called RERE syndrome, a diagnosis that comes with complex developmental and physical challenges. Advocating for Loghan is not just a passion—it is a necessity to ensure she has access to the therapies, community, and opportunities she needs to thrive. What can be difficult to fully capture in words is the profound, life changing impact HorsePower has had on our family. This program offers far more than therapeutic riding; it provides confidence, physical strength, emotional regulation, and an unparalleled sense of belonging.

Thank you HorsePower for what you do to improve the well being of people of all abilities, we are blessed because of you.

We found HorsePower by accident in our never ending search for treatments for kids with low muscle tone. We had not yet received a diagnosis for our 3 year old son Paxton at the time, we just refused to accept that we couldn’t do more to help him. Paxton was diagnosed with Ullrich Congenital Muscular Dystrophy in the fall of 2016. Ullrich Congenital Muscular Dystrophy affects the skeletal muscles causing weakness, stiff joints and hypermobility in their wrists and ankles. HorsePower has been an important piece of Paxton’s success, assisting with his core strengthening, his hip joint range of motion also assisting with his balance due to his wobbly gait. We can’t say enough in regards to Tammy, she is knowledgeable and caring. She knows how to connect with Paxton and does a great job identifying areas she can help him in. The staff is friendly and they genuinely care about their mission.

Being out at HorsePower brings me immense joy!!

I’ve been volunteering at HorsePower for about thre ish years now. It is such a joy to watch the clients when they first start their eight weeks session…and even over the years. You can see the progress in them, which is fantastic! They’re confidence improves, their strength, mind, body and soul are improved!! For someone who’s never been around horses, they may think oh it’s just a pony ride. But if you’ve ever been on the back of a horse, you quicklly learn how you use almost every muscle and senses in your body. I’ve heard it said that horses can hear the human heart from about 4 feet away. Their hearts can sync up wiht ours, lowerin gour heart rate making us more calm. Horses are truly magnificent animals who benefit humans so well. The staff at HorsePower are truly amazing. Cannot say enough about hem. You can tell they truly love waht they are doing and will go out of their way to help. And the other volunteers that I have had the pleasure to be around for such wonderful people kind hearted and truly enjoy what they are doing. Once again, I cannot say enough about HorsePower, the amazing horses, staff and clients!! Being out at HorsePower brings me immense joy!

We have noticed several benefits that participating in Therapeutic Riding at HorsePower has provided our daughter with over the years.

Physically she has gained strength in her core muscles and a better sense of balance.  Mentally she has improved her sense of focus and her ability to follow instructions. Finally, she has gained a sense of responsibility and confidence that have raised her spirit and sense of purpose.

HorsePower is there to support me with my goals of better balance, strength and walking.

Horse Power has given me many tools to work with in my life. Each lesson starts with grooming. As I am grooming, the volunteers and I pick on each other and have some fun.

I go to the blocks where you would get on the horse. To get on the horse I stand and the instructor pivots me to the horse so I am leaning against the horse. My side walker then takes my hips and helps the instructor seat me on the horse. After being seated sideways the instructor and side walker lift my legs to put them on either side.

Once out of the blocks I let go of everything and the side walker and instructor hold my trunk on both sides due to my tendency to lean forward when doing this exercise. When I first started, I could only lift my hands for 15 seconds a side with four sides. Now I do four laps with no breaks around the arena.

Horse Power is there to support me with my goals of better balance, strength and walking.
